Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-15-06  cade: Cold! Beating his own wife a few months after they got married.
Jan-15-06  KingG: I think most people would have expected a short draw.
Jan-15-06  Ludamad: Possible (offensive?) game of the day pun: "Wife Beater"
Jan-15-06  DanielBryant: <Ludamad> *groans*
Jan-19-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <I think most people would have expected a short draw.>

Since Suat Atalik has a much bigger chance of winning the GM-C group, it might actually have been a pre-arranged victory for him! Even without such an arrangement, Suat should win of course.

Jan-20-06  DanRoss53: <...it might actually have been a pre-arranged victory...> With a 200+ ELO advantage and the White pieces, I would think <...Suat should win of course...> is more accurate.
Jan-29-06  gunnar373: A husband and a wife battle and of course Suat won. Where they in same bed after this much?
Jan-29-06  DCP23: Somehow this reminds me of the Chinese 4-0 victory over their female countrymates in Beer-Sheva.
Jan-30-06  zafiroluna: I suspect this game conditioned all games of Ekaterina that followed until Round 13. Because of the great number of draws, I think they were offered to her to demonstrate what gallantery with a lady is, instead of this lack of kindness from her husband. But please, friend players, do not offer more draws to Ekaterina, because so you are ruined a magnificent player she was when teenager! Please, that she return to be, as was, one of the promises of her generation!
Jan-30-06  cuendillar: <Where they in same bed after this> If she can't mate him in the tournament...
Mar-10-06  zafiroluna: In the site of Corus Chess 2006,Photo Gallery, Round 12, we can find two excellent photos of the Atalik's: one with Katyk in the foreground and her husband in background,in black and white, for me the best, and the other with Suat in foreground and Katya behind,in color. I would reccomend the Atalik's pick up these 2 photos and enlarge in a Photo Lab to put in sight at their home, because these photos are really a magnific work!!
May-14-08  meliihhh: gunnar, and coundillar, you should save your stupid jokes to yourselves. Suat Atalik is our (Turkey) most talented player, and I won't let you two talk like this. For those who do not know, he is in the top 150 in FIDE's list. Nevertheless, I think he can give lessons for "bed" too, if you wish, to you two shameless men. In my opinion, a husband and a wife,or just two friends,if opposed in a tournament, may pre-decide the result of the game beforehand, or just play normally. Tal and Petrosian were two great friends but they have a lot of hard-fought games, for example.

Domdaniel: Not *that* kind of friends, though.
Jan-29-10  braimondi: Lol this one was very funny...
Jan-31-10  hedgeh0g: <Ludamad> HAHAHAHA! Please, Chessgames! Please!
Sep-23-11  wordfunph: no matrimonial draw from these newly-weds!

with 219 elo points separating them, GM Suat Atalik flaunted who's the King of the family.
