Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-27-05  Udit Narayan: A great game
Nov-27-05  suenteus po 147: I have to give Nakamura credit for his tenacity, but it will take more than that if he wants to stay in the tournament.
Nov-27-05  Assassinater: In the Sveshnikov, with the hole on d5 for black, black often gains a kingside attack. This game seems quite similar to a Sveshnikov, with the exception that black has no kingside attack to speak of whatsoever.
Nov-27-05  notsodeepthought: <Udit Narayan: A great game> very true. Kudos to both players. One question: what's wrong with 38 Rf3? It seems to win the f7 pawn with no compensation (then again, I can't argue with Ganguly, since he ultimately won...).

  tpstar: <notsodeepthought> That's a good suggestion, but after 38. Rf3 Black has 38 ... Qa6+ 39. Kg2 Bf6 holding for now (40. Rc3! Qd6). The game continuation induced 38 ... e4 and the advanced Pawn was weak.

Great fighting game by both sides.

Nov-27-05  LIFE Master AJ: It IS a good game, you have to give it to both players. (No ten-move draw here!) I can tell you from personal experience, having won and lost tough games in tournaments, that opposite-colored Bishop endgames are VERY difficult, and usually end in a draw.
Nov-27-05  PinkPanther: Haha, I hope Ganguly sends him packing.
Nov-28-05  VishyFan: wow! that's a nice game by ganguly, especially that bold exchange sacrifice towards the end.....
Nov-28-05  iron maiden: Nakamura definitely has what it takes to bounce back tomorrow. But I have this sick feeling that we're going to see 2. Qh5.
Nov-28-05  DCP23: http://www.worldchesscup2005.com/ne...
Nov-29-05  saurav4000: well, I didn't know that the Sicilian can lead to such calm & quiet position requiring positional play
Dec-02-05  rjsolcruz: yes, because of black's e5, the set-up is sveshnikov looking.
