Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-24-05  LondonSystem: White played well but perhaps black was a little too passive!
Sep-07-06  chessarmenia: you are correct in your analysis, black played as many amateurs do, randomly "developing" their pieces and moving their rooks behind their pawns only never to move those pawns, and of course colle severely punished this pacific man with his opening which can severely punish unsuspecting amateurs such as schubert.
Sep-07-06  ganstaman: Schubert's page says that: <He was Czech Champion in 1919.>

I'm not going to say that he didn't underestimate the power of a Colle System's kingside attack, but calling him an <unsuspecting amateur> may be taking it too far.

Oct-09-06  RookFile: Well, one improvement is not to castle into mate. That may be putting it too strong, but why not, instead of 8....0-0 make moves like ...Qc7 geared against the invasion on e5?

plang: Pandolfini recommends 13..Bxe5 or 13..f5 with an edge to White.

mifralu: < Correction: We receive the following letter: „Prague, June 22, 1928.
Dear Sir! In the chess column of the Prager Tagblatt of June 17 you published my game against Colle from the Scarborough chess tournament. I take the liberty of politely drawing your attention to the fact that I was awarded a doctorate in law on March 25, 1919, and that it is therefore not appropriate to omit the addition to my name expressing my academic degree. I hereby politely but urgently request that you publish a correction to this effect in the next chess column. Should you again fail to do so, I would be forced to take legal action against you. Respectfully:
JUDr. Franz Schubert.” >
