Chessical: A magnificent fighting game. Playing sharply in a King's Indian variation Gligoric used with both colours,

Reshevsky vs Gligoric, 1960
Tal vs Gligoric, 1961
Gligoric vs Fischer, 1961
Hort vs Gligoric, 1971

he daringly sacrifices a Rook with <23...Be5!!>.

Schmid stated afterwards that he felt that the whole line was sheer desperation. <27.Bg2> was later suggested as better, but as it only leads to an equal game Schmid probably saw no reason to play this.

Gligoric's 28th move is hard to visualise, and he admitted that he nearly played <28...Bxf2+> instead, but then after 29.Kh1 Kg7 <30.Rae1!> wins.

May-13-15  ToTheDeath: Excellent attack- Gligoric was never afraid to trust his instincts and sac material when the position called for it.
