Feb-22-04  rags: GM Zhang Zhong losing to a 1900 rated player !? This doesnt seem true.. But a great game this was though.
Feb-22-04  PinkPanther: This has to be some sort of screw up on the scoresheet. A player like Zhong should have no player dusting off a 1900 in a simul, much less one on one.
Feb-22-04  PinkPanther: No, it's a mistake. I just looked it up and Andrei Kharitonov is a GM from Russia, who's rated 2561.
Feb-22-04  TrueFiendish: Yes, it seemed not so much that Zhong shouldn't have lost but more that black played amazingly well for a 1900.

Honza Cervenka: Chessgames.com, GM Andrei Kharitonov is the only "Kharitonov" on the list of participants of the 3rd Aeroflot Festival. Of course, he played this game.

chessgames.com: Thanks Honza, we fixed the other games too, including the ones labelled "Ana (?) Kharitonov".
Feb-23-04  Calli: <Chessgames> For some reason, the PGN headers often do not get fixed when corrections are made. Not good for downloads! This game still is [Black "Ana Kharitonov"][BlackElo "1935"] in the header.

chessgames.com: <For some reason, the PGN headers often do not get fixed when corrections are made.> That's intentional. Because player names are the most difficult part of the database to normalize, this gives us a way to review what changes the administrators have made to the player names. This is very important in cases where games have been misfiled.

<Not good for downloads!> We're developing a mass-download utility which will normalize the PGN headers to the database automatically. That should solve the problem nicely.
