One of the few remaining Dinosaurs in 'Chessic Park'. My newphew runs rings around me with regard to computers. I load up games with PGN facility by hand typing them in. How bad is that?

Feb-14-04		Benzol: Max Lange vs Schierstedt, 1868 Ben I was actually looking for another game between these two players that was played circa 1857, but I quite like the look of this one too.

Spielmann vs Rubinstein, 1911 The position after Black's 31st move is interesting in the following game Spielmann vs J Mieses, 1910 The final position in this game is also aesthetic Spielmann vs M Walter, 1928 This game is visually pleasing also H Helms vs O Tenner, 1942

Feb-19-11		Phony Benoni: Not a very inspiring game, unless you find positional Ruy Lopezes/Spanishes fascinating. I don't, which probably explains why I've never been a Master. If the whole point of the pun was the formation of the knights, well, that can't be too uncommon. Sort of picturesque to have it keep repeating at the end of the game, but I'm just not excited about this one.

Feb-19-11		al wazir: This is the game of the the day? I wish someone would point out what made it outstanding. It was almost drawn by repetition twice, on move 44 and move 47; finally the players got over their problem and did it.

Feb-19-11		KingV93: While I also found the game a bit dry, (truly an exhibition of why I'll never be a chessmaster; I simply do not have the patience to play these kinds of things out as shown, not yet anyway) The final position was amusing.

Feb-19-11		newzild: I agree with some of the other posters who say that this game is only mildly interesting. However, 17. b4! is instructive. For those folks unfamiliar with the arcane strategies of the Spanish, the idea is to restrict the mobility of the black knight (by covering the c5 square). Of course, Black can't capture on b4 because his rook is hanging. <Benzol> Me too! I recently dug all my old games out of a draw and have been painstakingly typing them into Notepad files. I always seem to mistype two or three moves, causing the game to crap out when launched in a GUI.

Feb-19-11		kevin86: I love the "diamond" shape of the knights. There is a game where all of the knights are in a diagonal row and suddenly become a square and ALL help in a checkmate.

Feb-19-11		Ratt Boy: Most picturesque positions seem to involve knights. They truly are unique pieces in the arsenal.
