Chessical: Wolf is winning in the final position:

<31. Kd1> Qg1+ 32. Ke2 Qxh2+ 33. Kf1 Qh3+ (not 33...Qxg3? 34. Qf6+ Kg8 35. Bd5 mate) 34. Kf2 Qd7 35. Qf6+ Kg8 36. Qxe5

It seems that <29...Qe1+> would have assured a draw for Nimzowitsch, but perhaps after dominating the game for so long he wanted more.

  MissScarlett: Apparently, the game score is wrong on two counts. According to the score given in the <BDE>, April 2nd 1905, White interpolated <27. Qd7+ Kh8 28. Qe8+ Kg7 29. Qd7+ Kh8 30. Qc8+ Kg7>, and Nimzo didn't slip, playing <Chessical>'s 33...Qe1+. Correction submitted.
Sep-26-20  linuxguy: <MissScarlett> I'm curious, what is BDE?

The Skjoldager and Nielsen book, pg.28, has it the original way. 27.QxRa6 BxBd2+, 28.KxBd2 Qf2+, 29.Kc3 Qd4+?? (29...Qe1+ draws), 30.Kc2 Qc5+, where the players agreed a draw, apparently not realizing that White is winning there (30.Kd1 runs out from the checks). Why would a historical book be wrong(?) It credits the source: Kak Ya Stal Grosmeysterom p.38-40; Claes Lofgren translation.

Nimzowitsch was young here, as a player.

Telemus: <linuxguy: I'm curious, what is BDE?> The Brooklyn Daily Eagle ... hardly a primary source for this game.

The Skjoldager and Nielsen book has most probably the right score. I remember that a friend of mine showed me this example and mentioned an email contact with Skjoldager. My friend had asked about the correctness of the score and Skjoldager named several additional sources. Skjoldager added that the Russian book was given as source for the comments, and - iirc - that the wrong score is probably due to Wolf who published it somewhere.

My friend showed this to me as an example on how deep S&N's research is.
