Dec-27-03  JerseyDevil: A pawn mate!!!!
Dec-27-03  robichelli: I found this game quite interesting. After 24. gxh6 Black should've realized that the game was lost.
Dec-28-03  fatbaldguy: White could have mated one move sooner with 30 Qg8+ R:g8 31 R:g8 mate, but I guess he felt mating with a pawn deserved waiting the extra move (or maybe he just wanted to toy with his opponent).
Jan-04-05  Flo: 2.b4 is bizarre but the mate with one pawn is funny!!!
Jan-04-05  azaris: Bizarre?! Alekhine employed the same line 300 years later.
Mar-09-05  InspiredByMorphy: 3. ...d5 would have offered black a better game than what resulted after 3. ...e6 .
Apr-02-05  Jaymthegenius: Black should have won this!!! as IBM said 3...d5 is better, practically refutes wing gambit.
Jul-14-05  Jaymthetactician: Black should definately have won after 5.c4?
Jul-31-05  PAWNTOEFOUR: i just love playing over greco's games...you never know where the knockout blow is coming from
Aug-02-05  Jaymthetactician: why does Greco not move pieces in the opening? This annoy's me, as black after 5...Qa5+ 6.Bd2,Bb4 7.Bxb4,Qxb4+ 8.Qd2,Qxd2+ 9.Nxd2,Nf6 is alot better for black.
Aug-02-05  Jaymthetactician: Cant someone look at this game objectively and point out all the flaws in this game? As I believe this game is so rich in flaws that in this regard it puts under 1200 ratings to shame.
Aug-02-05  who: Fritz gives 27...Qc4 28.d5 Qc5+ 29.Kh1 Ne5 30.Re1 Qd6 31.Na3 Raf8 32.Bxb3 axb3 as about equal whereas 27...Nxd4 is losing by about 10 pawns.
Aug-02-05  aw1988: Actually, this is very good for a Greco game. It looks much more modern compared to his other works.
Aug-05-05  Jaymthetactician: But I refuted Grecos line with my move order at around move 5 with 5...Qa5+, doesnt anyone see this gives advantage to black?
Aug-05-05  Runemaster: <Jaym> your analysis always depends on the "opponent" doing exactly what suits you, doesn't it?
Aug-06-05  Jaymthetactician: No, I believe thats what Greco would actually play, and the moves I give are the best ones.
Aug-07-05  who: Well Jaym, for one 7.Rxa3 wins a pawn back for white, though Fritz thinks 7.Qb3 is even better. And after your line 10.e5 seems about equal to me, as white gets back the a pawn and has a DOMINATING center in exchange for the other pawn.
Aug-08-05  Jaymthetactician: 7.Rxa3,Bxd2+ 8.Qxd2,Qxd2 9.Nxd2,Ne7 10.c5,0-0 11.Ngf3,Nbc6 Refutes Greco's 5.c4?? line 5.Bxa3 is better, and 5...Qh4! is also a viable option as after 6. Qd3 Nf6 7. Nc3 Ng4 8. g3 is also
Aug-14-05  who: <Jaymthetactician> I don't know why you don't like the position for white after 7.Rxa3,Bxd2+ 8.Qxd2,Qxd2 9.Nxd2,Ne7 10.c5,0-0 11.Ngf3,Nbc6. I'm looking at a chessboard with the position in front of me, and white seems to have ample compensation for the pawn. He controls the center, has more piece mobility and black needs to deal with a weak bishop for the rest of the game.
Aug-15-05  Jaymthetactician: I dont like white in any position in the 5.c4?? lines, but the line you give seems to be whites best I think. And I admit white has good compensation, though blacks passed a-pawn would suggest that this gambit in general, much less the 5.c4?? line, is totally unplayable for white, as no modern master would play this and for good reason.
Mar-20-06  goldenbear: <Jaymthetactician> The a-pawn!? The gambit is perfectly sound; despite what Madonna may think, time is of far more importance in chess and life than material.
Mar-20-06  goldenbear: For real, 2.b4 is all I play now. I have a perfect score with it in tournament play. (8-0)
Mar-20-06  MrMojoRisin: <goldenbear> <For real, 2.b4 is all I play now. I have a perfect score with it in tournament play. (8-0)> average rating of your opponents?
May-22-06  Runemaster: <goldenbear: <Jaymthetactician>... despite what Madonna may think, time is of far more importance in chess and life than material.>

Ah, so that's where the "tactician" got his analysis from.

May-24-06  goldenbear: <Jaymthetactician> 5.c4? is indeed dcisively bad. I think 5.f4!? is very interesting, maybe winning (a computer, naturally, will not see this), although any recapture on a3 is playable.
