Now, this is an unexpected pleasure.

May-08-08  Riverbeast: The Polish strikes again!

9...Rxe3 is actually a well known sac, but it's not quite sound....Lapshun refutes it nicely

May-08-08  whiteshark: Maybe there is a better move for black after <13.Qd3> ?

May-08-08  Riverbeast: I don't know...I play the Polish in blitz games, and have had to defend against this sac often...Usually I've come out on top, and I played similar moves to what Lapshun played (Qb3, Kd1, Qd3).

I could see playing the ...Rxe3 sac in a blitz game, but it seems foolhardy to try it in a slow game, when white has a lot of time to find the best defenses.

But this was the early rounds of the World Open 5-day, so maybe it was Game/30 or Game/60.

GrahamClayton: Maybe 11...♕e7 protecting the knight and bringing the Queen into play is better?

louispaulsen88888888: You could exchange queens but then you’re slightly worse in an endgame. Must be a better way to beat 1. b4?!
