Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-03-09  KingG: 18.Qh5!! is an absolutely brilliant move. It took me a while to work out how White wins after 18.Qh5 bxc3 19.Qh6 cxd2+, even with a computer.

At first I just considered the natural 20.Kxd2 Bg5!(20...g6? 21.Rh3 ) 21.Rxg5 g6 22.h4 Nc5! 23.Bxc5(23.Kc1 Ne4) Qa5+ 24.Kc1 Qxc5 25.f5 exf5 26.Rh5, and now Black can take perpetual check with 26...gxh5, or risk more with 26...Re8.

So then it became obvious, just not allow the check 23...Qa5+. So the right move is 20.Kd1! Bg5 21.Rxg5 g6 22.h4, with a winning attack.

For example, 22...Qe7 23.h5 a3 24.b3 Ba6 25.f5! exf5 26.hxg6 fxg6 27.Rxg6+ hxg6 28.e6(the point of 25.f5) and mate.

Jan-03-09  KingG: Next, if Black takes on c3 a move later.

19...bxc3 20.Rh3 cxd2+ 21.Kd1 h6 22.Be3! Kh7 23.Bxh6 g6 24.fxg6+ fxg6 25.Qg4 Nxe5 26.Bf4+ Kg7 27.Bxe5+ Bf6 28.Qh4! Bxe5 29.Qh7+ Kf6 30.Rf1+ .
