Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-07-04  azaris: A move like 16...h6! blindfolded, impressive. Swiftly punishing Gelfand's blunder 21. ♖fa1? winning the exchange. The gutsy 35...b3! ensuring promotion. And putting the final touch to a won game with 45...♖xh3!. Brilliant game.

After 28...♖e2 there was incidentally 29. ♘hf5+! gxf5 30. ♘xf5+ ♗xf5 31. ♕xe2 ♗d3 and White has two pawns for the exchange but Black should still win.

Dec-16-04  bpdoc: Am I incorrect in thinking htat Gelfand missed checkmate on either move 38 or move 39 with Nf6? I see 38...Kh8 39 Rh7++, or 39...Kf8 40 Kf7++.
Dec-16-04  euripides: <bpdoc> Welcome to the site. Nf6 does not seem to be legal on move 38 or 39, though it would certainly be very strong.
