Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-05-02  bishop: Excellent use of his King side Pawn majority by the boy wonder. 34...h3! was very strong. White could not save himself by 36.Kg1 beacuse of ...Bd4+ 37.Kxg2 Bh3+ 38.Kf3 Rf8+ 39.Ke4 Bg4 40.Rh2 Bf3 mate.

wwall: I am not sure 34...h3 is the best. Instead of 35.Nxg3, White can try 35.Ng5 hxg2+ 36.Kxg2 Rh2+ 37.Kf3 Rxf2 38.Kxe2 or 38.Bxe2 and White looks OK. Black should play 34...Bg4 first to prevent the White king from escaping with Kf3. 34...Bg4 35.Rd2 h3 36.Nxg3 Bxg3 and Black should have an easy win.

In the game, after 35...hxg2+ 36.Kg1 Bd4+ 37.Kxg2 Bh3+ 38.Kf3 Rf8+ 39.Bf5 (better than 39.Ke4) 39...Bxf5 40.Re7+ Kg6 41.Nxf5 Rxf5+ 42.Ke4 and White puts up better resistance.

In the game, after 36...Bh3+, perhaps better is 37.Kf3 (instead of 37.Kf2) 37...Rf8+ 38.Bf5 Bxg3 39.Re7+ Kf6 40.Kxg3 Kxe7 41.Bxh3, but it still looks like Black can win by advancing his king with Kd6-e5-d4-c3-b2.
