Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-10-08  ChessDude33: Whats black's best response against 4.Bc4? Does anybody know?
Apr-10-08  Gilmoy: 4.Bc4 doesn't occur in the database. The closest game with it is: T Kreiter vs G Dickson, 2008 4.b3 Bg7 5.Bc4, 57 moves, 0-1. Black chased it off with 7..d5 8.Be2.

Offhand, 4.Bc4 looks harmless, and Black should just continue developing. It mildly disrupts Black's idea of d6-e5 and a KID-like K-side pawn storm, but the alternative pawn structures with d5 (e.g. c6-d5-e5) look just fine for Black. d5 will cost White a tempo, and it's surely not worth that much just to make Black switch to plan 1-A.

Apr-13-08  ChessDude33: <Gilmoy> Thanks, I've played a stonewall (what you recommended) before, and it feels weird with g6 inserted.
