Oct-05-09  grasser: 15.Ndxb5 looks like a crushing shot.
Apr-07-12  King Death: < grasser: 15.Ndxb5 looks like a crushing shot.>

As far as I know nobody's ever tried it, maybe because 15. Nd5 looks so natural and 15.Ne6 has also been played.

After your idea 15.Ndb5 let's have a look at 15...ab 16.Nb5 when 16...Qa5 looks like a try. Then comes 17.Nd6+ Ke7 18. Qb3 Rf8 20.Bb5. White has only 2 pawns for the piece but he has a powerful attack. It looks like 20...Nc5 is the only way to hold but then 21.Qd5 and how can Black defend? This just looks losing for him.

Nov-11-12  Drakodan: <grasser: 15.Ndxb5 looks like a crushing shot.>

It is. I quite recently played a Najdorf that reached an identical position, and after some analysis both with an engine and with other people, 15. Ndxb5 was definitely the best shot.

However, the text move is still definitely playable, as its what I played in my game, and I went on to win it a mere 5 moves after playing it. After Black incorrectly replied with 15. ... Qc5, 16. Ne6!! is an absolutely crushing sacrifice. Game continued thus:

16. ... fxe6 17. Qh5+ Kf8??(Any and all chance for Black is gone after this, g6 was the best reply but still losing) 18. fxe6 g6 19. Qxg5 Nb6?? 20. Qe7+, and Black resigned.

Mar-10-16  PJs Studio: 39. Qxc7+ picking up a rook with check looks way better to me. Am I missing something?
