Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-16-13  wordfunph: by GM Seirawan from Inside Chess..

<The game begins. Tal lightly lands a pawn on e4. My mind races, and then I settle on a Caro-Kann defense. With a pause for good manners, Tal launches a Panov-Botvinnik Attack, White's most aggressive counter against the Caro. Isolating White's d-pawn, I choose a fashionable defense based upon...Be7-f6 and...Nc6-e7. Recent games from the Soviet Championship confirm the soundness of Black's position.

Mischa settles into his chair. There will be no violent attacks today. He plays a move that leads to a forced repetition and offers a draw. "Thank you," he says. "It's my first draw in the tournament." Then a moment later, he adds: "Thank you again. It's my first draw against you!" The smile is there, matching the wit. Only the fire in his eyes is missing. Chess without Tal won't be the same. Long live Mischa.>
