White to move.
ANALYSIS [x]
Notes by BogoljubovThe so-called Tchigorin defence but 7...Bd7 was simpler. If ...exd4 White counters with 11 cxd4 and the d-pawn then is of course taboo. Not so good in this position, as convincingly demonstrated by Lasker. The proper move was 11...O-O. Black was alread in considerable difficulties, and his only chance was to take on d4 the text move gives White an opportunity for a winning combination.Forced because 18...gxf6 19 Bh6 Re8 would lead to a win for White.21...Re8 would be countered by 22 Nh4 Qh6 23 Nf5 Qg6 24 Bxd6, etc....Rc8 would be countered by 23 Qa1.1-0
