Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-22-03  fred lennox: This is the first time Miles is using the reply...b6 to the English. He put it on the map. It was lost since the middle of the 19th century, favored by the Englishman Rev. Owen. No one paid attention to it since except other englishmen around 1970. Goes to show xenophobia does exists in the chess world.
Jul-22-03  refutor: actually it was also used in the 20s including the game... De Koning vs Euwe, 1921
Jul-24-03  fred lennox: Thanks for pointing out the game. Euwe was a scholar and master of the openings. Perhaps due to this game it was used a few times in 1925, but from what I can tell, it passed like a fleeting shadow.
Sep-21-06  Kwesi: I like how black gets to a standard Sicilian Kan Maroczy bind position but with an extra tempo (as the move e2-e4 took two moves in this game instead of the usual one)
