Jul-07-05  woodenbishop: Nice moves!!
Dec-11-08  whiteshark: Lean on a stick.
Dec-11-08  patzer of patzers: I'm guessing white wins at least a bishop here?
Dec-11-08  arsen387: I think when playing 5..Qc8 blacks thought that 7..Bc2 traps the white Q, but he missed the check. A low quality game by black
Dec-11-08  ILikeFruits: im...
lean...
but...
not...
mean...
Dec-11-08  Samagonka: That's my favorite openning and it feels good to see it work well like that.
Dec-11-08  newzild: A pretty basic game. The GOTD quickie wins this week aren't much fun.
Dec-11-08  withingrace: i was hoping to see a tooth and nail fight but... i got a slaughter instead, o well.
Dec-11-08  tivrfoa: what does "Lean and Mean" mean?

playground player: Was it fair to make Koltanowski play without a blindfold--and only one game at a time, to boot? But he won anyhow.
Dec-11-08  jovack: king open in the middle game is a recipe for disaster as was just demonstrated
Dec-11-08  WhiteRook48: Lean is SO not mean.
Dec-11-08  njchess: I'm not much of a fan of 4. ... Bf5, but followed by 5. ... Qc8?? (it has the feel of club level move) proves to be disastrous, especially against a player of Koltanowski's strength. 5. ... Qd7 is much better.

From there, it's all downhill for Black as White shreds his position. The final position is a pretty picture for White.

Dec-11-08  offtherook: You <never> bring out the light square bishop like that in the Slav. Recipe for disaster.
Dec-28-08  WhiteRook48: <offtherook> Personally I like white's bishop at c1 most. So I begin with 1 d4 a lot. Like this game. Began with 1 d4. Silly Lean to rely on his name. Too bad there weren't rating points
