Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-06-05  Mate Hunter: Why didn't Reti black play 17...h6 (to defence pawn on g4)instead of 17...Rxg5?
Mar-06-05  Everett: Because Reti knows he shouldn't move his opponents pieces
Mar-06-05  soberknight: <Everett> Not a kind comment; I'm sure you understood perfectly well what MH meant. <MH> Probably Black had mentally given up already. After 17...h6 18 Rxg8 Rxg8 19 Bxf4, White has won a pawn. Black didn't bother to notice that his move lost TWO pawns.
Mar-07-05  Everett: <soberknight> I hope Mate Hunter has a better sense of humor than you do. Nothing personal in my comment. Whether it be kind to jest with a stranger... well, I see what you think of it, but perhaps you ought to let the people involved decide how they feel about things.
Mar-07-05  soberknight: <Everett> Fair enough. I was judging how I might feel if I were Mate Hunter, but some people can "take a joke" better than others.
Mar-07-05  euripides: Black could try 19...Ng3 followed by Ne5 and possibly Ng6.
