Mar-13-05  Mate Hunter: Instead of 9.h3 white could play 9.Bg2 or 9.Be2 and then black can't play that and win the rook.
Dec-13-08  WhiteRook48: Why did hardly anyone kibitz here? Or do they not want to respect NN?
Dec-31-08  WhiteRook48: wow NN can hardly crash someone like this
Mar-24-09  WhiteRook48: with a fork winning a rook and knight
May-17-11  webadict: Why not 11...Bxf3+ instead of Qxd1? It seems like a better move to me...

11...Bxf3+
12 Kxf3 Qxf3+
13 Kxf2 Nxe4+

Mar-01-12  honorflamingo: This is a strange game. White loses it first by playing 9. h3. But then, by my analysis, black loses it by playing 10...Bf2+?. Finally, white, refusing to take the gift he has been offered, throws the game away with 11. Ke2??. I'll take it one at a time.

9. h3??. This move loses the a rook to 9...Nxf3+ 10. Nxf3 Qxd1+ 11. Kxd1 Bxf3+ (forking the king and rook).

10...Bf2+? This move is bad because 11. Kxf2 does not lose the queen for white. After 11...Qxd1 white has the saving 12. Bb5+! exposing the queen to the rook discovery. Because black has sacrificed a knight already, things look pretty even after 12...c6 13. Bxc6+ bxc6 14. Rxd1 Nxe4+ 15. Ke3.

Finally, 11. Ke2?? loses the reasons in the text.

Apr-14-12  whiteshark: "I cannot imagine any condition that would cause a ship to founder. I cannot conceive of any vital disaster happening to this vessel. Modern ship building has gone beyond that."
