Sep-23-03  Shadout Mapes: 13.Kxf3 Nh4#

13.Kg1 Qf2#

Sep-23-03  unclewalter: funny how that's fairly difficult for us to see and all a computer sees is "mate in 2."
Sep-23-03  Halfpricemidge: Probably 'cuz we're too much in the habit of guarding our queen, so we don't look for the queen sacrifice when looking for check mate-even as a last resort.
Sep-23-03  JSYantiss: 12. Ne2 was a complete blunder by White. He should have played 12. Bxf7+. If Black takes the Bishop 12...Kxf7, he will lose his Queen to 13. Ne5+. What about this line?

12. Bxf7+ Kd8 13. Bxf4 gxf4 14. h4, and White has good chances here. His development is finished, and Black's two remaining minor pieces have not been developed.

Sep-23-03  NiceMove: Bxf7+ was possible on move 11 after Black played Bg6, but Black must decline or else, as you pointed out, the queen hangs to Ne5+. Black has a solid attack for the lost pawn.
Sep-23-03  Alyosha Karamazov: I think the crucial square for at least the last three days of "Black to move and win" has been f3.
Apr-10-14  PhilFeeley: Why hasn't this been a puzzle for move 12 yet?

tpstar: Black to Play and Win after 12. Ne2.

The Little Bishop's Gambit (1. e4 e5 2. f4 exf4 3. Bc4) is best met by 3 ... d5 opening lines in the center, then 4. Bxd5 Qh4+ 5. Kf1 g5 consolidating the gambit Pawn on f4. Black's Queen is a little uncomfortable out of the opening but so is White's King. This is the shortest Black win in the database = Opening Explorer

Black was like a tyger, tyger, burning bright ...
