Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-28-06  Sularus: After 26. Ke2, black has a bishop and two pawn islands, and black has a knight and three pawn islands.

If you have an engine, can you please check if there REALLY is no win for BLACK if both play perfectly from that position? thanks.

Dec-28-06  Bobsterman3000: I just ran the final position in Fritz 8 under a fast 3 min DP search. Fritz 8 doesn't appear to see anything at all for black and gives the = along with the slimmest of evaluations:

37. Kd5 Be7 (37... Ba5 38. Nc5 Kg3 (38...
Bd2 39. a4 a5 40. Nb3 $11 [%eval 0,16]) 39. Ne4+ Kh4 40. Kc6 $11 [%eval 0,17]) (37... Bb6 38. a4 Ba5 (38... Bd8 39. Kd4 a5 40. Kd5 $11 [%eval 0,16]) 39. Kd4 Bb4 40. Kd3 $11 [%eval 0,16]) 38. Ke6 Ba3 (38... Bb4 39. Nf6 Bd2 40. Nh5+ $11 [%eval .03,16]) 39. Nf6 Bc1 40. Nh5+ $11 [%eval -.03,15] 1/2-1/2

Dec-29-06  Sularus: thanks!

what if starting from move 26 of black?
