Mar-30-06  Timothy Glenn Forney: Wow what a gem,a young Kasparov playing the Giuoco Piano,Max Lange Attack. This is a classic.
Mar-30-06  alicefujimori: <Timothy Glenn Forney>It's not a Max Lange Attack. The Max Lange is against the Two Knight's Defence. It could be reached via the move order 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.d4 exd4 etc...
Mar-30-06  Timothy Glenn Forney: I meant Moeller Attack, but its not that either because of 7.Nc3,so I don't think it has a name other than Giuoco Piano.
Mar-30-06  Timothy Glenn Forney: Here's a good example of The Moeller Attack:
R Hardarson vs G Livshits, 2001
Mar-30-06  Timothy Glenn Forney: Here's the Max Lange Attack, sorry for the confusion: Martinek vs Vajs, 1985
Mar-31-06  alicefujimori: The Moeller Attack has a reputation to be slightly advantageous to Black.
Mar-31-06  Timothy Glenn Forney: Yes,I started out playing the Italian Game, but changed to the Ruy Lopez,I recommend the Italian to beginners, and I'm making a collection for beginners.
Apr-30-06  GarryBonaparte: Just bangin' on my old Piano...
Gettin' in tune to the straight
and narrow!
Nov-19-07  patzer2: Wow! Kasparov has two pieces enprise. So instead of trying to protect one of them, he plays 32. Qe4!! for a surprise mating attack against the helpless King.

Note that 32...fxe6 is met with the unpleasant possibility 33. Nxe6 Qd6 34. Ng5+ Kf8 36. Nh7#.

P.S. <ChessGames.com> (32?) here would make for a very good daily puzzle.

Oct-10-18  MrJafari: A nice and instructive game specially the last attack...

  HeMateMe: the gift of Gab

good mating pattern to remember.
