GlassCow: Hillarious final position. It's impossible to get a draw from Karpov in an endgame, even when the pawns and pieces are symmetrical!
Feb-24-06  Karpova: yes, he has everything: material balanced game, symmetrical pawns, active king, bishops of opposite colours - but he's completely lost!
Jan-22-17  Albion 1959: Of course, no defence against Bg8 that removes all the remaining black pawns on the kingside. Karpov had to wait ten years to avenge his loss to Ivkov at Caracas back in 1970!
Jan-27-21  FSTIMJP: 35... Bxb3 and Karpov was toast.

How? Looks as if black ends up two pawns up but down the exchange.

Jan-27-21  FSTIMJP: I saw wrongly, but something there must work for Black. Maybe 35...Bf3 with a good game.
Nov-30-22  tonsillolith: Karpov really Carlsenned Ivkov in this ending here.

The possibility of a decisive result looked dubious to me until just right before the end. Much to learn here. Very impressive.
