Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-09-05  sharkbenjamin: What a wonderful finish: 25.g3 Rf4+ 26.Kg5 Qxg3+ 27.Kh6 Rh4+ 28.Nxh4 Qf4#.
Oct-07-18  saintdufus: The move 15...d5!? is rather startling.

The most obvious reply is 16.ed, when White gets a protected passed pawn on the sixth rank. I've been trying to figure out why White didn't play that move.

The variation 16...Re8 17.d7 (17.Qc2? Qf5) 17...Nd7 18.Qd7 Re4 looks pretty dangerous for White (19.Bd2 Qc5+ 20.Kf3 Rd4), but maybe he can sidestep that danger with 17.Nc3, when after 17...Bc3 18.bc Qc3 19.Rb1 the absence of the dark-square bishop diminishes Black's attacking possibilities.

Black does, however, control a lot of key squares after 16...Re8 17.Nc3 Qc5+ 18.Kg3 Nd7, when it's difficult for White to develop his pieces, and Black is just a few moves away from a dangerous attack.

For instance, after something like 19.Be2 there is the tactical shot 19...Ne5!? (heading for d3) 20.fe Be5 21.Bf4 Qe3+ and it's mate in two.

So maybe Black has a nice positional plus after the en passant capture. A bold and creative idea by Fedorowicz.
