After that, he had good prospects of an effective attack on Black's king; the more so as Black's pawns also would become excellent objects of attack and, therefore, combined attacks would be possible.>

  FSR: The first Caro-Kann in the database that featured the so-called Panov-Botvinnik Attack. (There are two prior games, but https://www.chessgames.com/perl/che... shows that they arose from 1.d4 d5 2.e3 c5 3.c4 cxd4 4.exd4.) Panov was born two years before this game, Botvinnik three years after! It's analyzed in MCO-1 (1911), which for some reason calls it "Schlecter's idea."
