Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-29-02  bishop: Spielmann obtained a huge opening advantage. Black,s second move is probably not the best and his third move looks like a mistake.
Nov-25-04  aw1988: Actually bishop, it's considered to be theory.

louispaulsen88888888: I only see 2 games here with this line. The other game being Burn vs Freeborough, where Black got clobbered in short order.

louispaulsen88888888: After 10 moves, White is all developed and has the 2 bishops and a pawn center.

plang: 4..Bxg1?! can't be good. After 10..0-0 White has very promising attacking chances while Black does not. 21 Bg5 was suggested as an improvement. Despite Black's awful opening and his having no active counterplay his strategy of going into a shell did require some clever play to defeat.

perfidious: <bishop: Spielmann obtained a huge opening advantage. Black,s second move is probably not the best and his third move looks like a mistake.>

While less common than 2....Nf6, 2....Nc6 is quite playable and his third move is also acceptable; the real problem here is, as noted by <plang>, at move four.
