  IMlday: This game was from a Futurity and I certainly didn't think too much in the opening~so it perhaps looks like a 'simul game'. But Shulte was prepared, improving on L Day vs L Mercuri, 1988 from slightly earlier that year. 8.Bd3 is probably not the best move. Hebden, Spassky and Gallagher had all preferred 8.Bc4, but I was donkey stubborn in trying to make the central pawn-roller work. 9.Ne2 clears the way for the c-pawn. 12.Kd2!?, he finally settled down to think. 15.Be4?~ 15.a3, or 15.Kb1 were both better. I'd missed the tactical shot 16..Nxd4+! entirely. Then Black is winning. I set some problems for his time shortage, but he was up for the task.
