Sep-13-05  e4Newman: Nice game Mr.Day. You held Mr.larsen off pretty well in my novice opinion, while developing a lovely threat of your own. Was this game an exhibition before the Canadian Open in St.John's, Newfoundland? I'm currently corresponding with a friend who attended the event.
Sep-13-05  who: Was 34...Rg7 the losing move, or was the position lost before then?

IMlday: Actually the position was practically winning. 33.Rg5!? was just a gamble that, short of time, I would find 34..Rg7?? to lose. Credit Bent with correctly judging his opponent! The game was played in the later rounds of the Canadian Open and he already had a serious lead. Nevertheless he wasn't interested in a draw at all.
Feb-24-06  McCool: Location is St. John in New Brunswick Canada?

  IMlday: No,St.John's, Newfoundland.
Feb-24-06  McCool: Are you sure because they are two different places. They should change that on the game sheet otherwise.
Feb-24-06  McCool: <IMlday> By the way, I read your collumn every week in the Saturday Toronto Star. Nice work.

IMlday: Just to be extra confusing there is no St. John. The city in New Brunswick is Saint John and in Newfoundland St. John's. The Canadian Open was quite pleasant; Jan Krotki and I brought a tent and camped.
