An Englishman: Good Evening: Botvinnik didn't take up the Robatsch Defense (the former name for the Modern) until the 1960s with great effect: +5, -0, =3. This one, however, is a mystery: how does Black wrap up the win after 33.Rb6?

  ToTheDeath: 33.Rb6 Qf3- with threats of Nf4, Qxh3, Nxc1- is terminal. If 34.Rb3 e4 35.Rd1 Qxh3. Guess Gipslis had enough.

Botvinnik must have been in heaven after 14...c5- a French defence with no bad bishop and a totally secure king!

An Englishman: Good Evening: <ToTheDeath>, the funny thing is that I saw this and thought Botvinnik must have had something even better.
