plang: Botvinnik was critical of 10 o-o-o recommending 10 dc or 10 b4. Versesov's plan of 12 Qe3+ and 13 Ne5 works out badly. 12 e4 is more logical though black would still be better. 14..o-o-o dodges whites kingside pawn storm while keeping black's positional advantage. After 17 e3 white's queen is cut off from the weakened queenside. 20..c3! is a remarkable, unexpected move. After 21..Nc4 white has no good reply. After 33 h4 white's position is not easy to infiltrate despite being the exchange down. However Versov self-destructs opening the position leading to a quick loss. Botvinnik's patience plus his game winning combination were very impressive but Verseov really played quite poorly.
