nasmichael: After 23.b5, Maroczy says this forces the draw. Is he still correct?
Aug-19-05  Boomie: <nasmichael> Maroczy probably had it right. The exchanges up to 25. Qxb5 are just about forced. 25...Qa7 threatens Nxe3. If white is interested in playing for a win, 26. Qd3 or Qc4 would at least leave the queens on the board. Neither side has a weakness to exploit and all the pawns are on the king side. Today players would agree to a draw around move 25.

Perhaps Bogoljubow decided he needed the half point to move up in the table. This was round 14 of a 15 round tournament, the strongest in 1922 with 6 of the top 10 players. Bogo finished in 5th, 1.5 points behind Rubinstein. Had he won this game he had a chance to tie for fourth. Euwe at 21 was by far the youngest player in the tournament and Bogo probably figured he could wait for a mistake which never came.
