Apr-29-05  Shams: Hebden and the Grob have plenty of fans on this site; I wonder what their take on this game would be. To me it looks like a classic case of using your opponent's pet opening against him and gaining a psychological advantage.

7.d5 looks not good. I would prefer 7.Nf3 intending prosaic moves to protect the d pawn (...Bg4 met by Be3, if ...Nc6 Bb5 etc.)

maybe 8.Na4!?
white plays very passively coming out of the opening.

if 30.Qxf4?? Qa5 and it's over.

speak, O Grobbies!

Sep-02-09  JohnBoy: na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Basman!

Don't you mean *Basman* and the Grob...?

I think that this is a great victory for Basman's 1...g5. The trouble with this - a bit like Miles' famous win against Karpov with 1...a6 - is that it may give people the impression that these openings are playable.

May-19-22  YoungEd: I think White should have aimed to trade off and get rid of Black's dark-square bishop somewhere from move 13 tomove 16. That thing ends up being a monster!
