Feb-13-11  fixingguru: after Karpov's 73th move Anand had a completely winning position IMO

click for larger view

he played 74.Rg4 which is bad. instead 74.h5 seems winning easily.

for example

if 74...Nf3 then 75.Nf7 Kc7 76.Rg7

if 74...Nf5 75.Ke6 Nd4 76.Kd6! Nb5 77.Kd5

if 74...Re1 75.Rg8 Kc7 76.h6 Rh1 77.Rg7 and h7 next

Feb-13-11  Jim Bartle: "...after Karpov's 73th move Anand had a completely winning position IMO"

An opinion shared by Yasser Seirawan in Inside Chess concerning several of the games in this match. I think he thought he drew two games where he had winning positions and lost one where he had a draw.

the other one which he failed to win is this one:
Anand vs Karpov, 1991

Feb-13-11  fixingguru: btw Jim Bartle Anand was a bit lucky to draw game 1, see here: Anand vs Karpov, 1991
