Apr-18-05  RookFile: Big league win for Kelleher.
Nov-11-10  Xeroxx: 21... a5 is a strange move.

Why not simply Rc8.

  Sastre: I think the purpose of 21...a5 was to threaten <22...a4 23.Nc1 (23.Nc5 Rc8) Rd1+ 24.Kf2 Bxa2 25.Rxa2 Rxc1>. 21...Rc8 looks fine for Black. For example, <21...Rc8 22.Rxc8 Rxc8 23.Nd4 Bf7 24.Ke2 Rc4 25.Kd3 Ra4>.

perfidious: From the time this game appeared in Chess Life, I felt Adams' choice of opening was objectively reasonable, but on psychological grounds, facing a much weaker opponent, a poor idea-Black's winning chances in this line are slim against correct play.

It was nice to see Bill get a GM scalp, though! He's long been a strong master and a decent man.

"Grisly Adams"
