Feb-18-08  Samagonka: <think>Tragically, shortly after the game, Aaron Summerscale died from a roundhouse kick to the face.

Is this supposed to be a joke?

Feb-18-08  tatarch: Probably not everyone on this site will understand or appreciate chuck norris jokes, e.g. http://www.chucknorrisfacts.com/

Kind of an American pop culture thing, and understandable if some people think it's silly

Feb-18-08  hedgeh0g: Black's play was somewhat patzerish...
Feb-18-08  Jazzer32: It is rumored that Alekhine manage to draw a game of chess with Chuck Norris, same day Alekhine died under mysterious circumstances...
Feb-18-08  whiteshark: Chuck Norris solved the game of chess. With a roundhouse kick.
Feb-18-08  gus inn: I hope the remark about Summerscales death is just a (bad) joke. We used to hang out in the early 90 ties.
A real nice fellow and allways on the right side of a pint !

fm avari viraf: A nice game by Summerscale just outplaying Norris! 25.f4 & White is threatening mate with 26.Rh8+ Bxh8 27.Qh7#. In 1998, after winning the World Ama. Chess Championship Title, I participated in another Hastings International Chess Tournament & shared the 1st Runner-up Prize with Summerscale & my friend GM Alexandar Volzhin. Cheers!

Jimfromprovidence: It's obvious that 15...Nd7 was the losing move; it blocked the bishop, trapped the rook and opened up the back rank for white's queen. White is now easily able to win material.

Black should have played 15...Bd7.

Feb-18-08  Judah: Chuck Norris once won a game of chess playing without his Rooks, his Bishops, one Knight, his Queen and 5 pawns, and spotting the other guy 6 moves. His opponent resigned after the second.
Feb-18-08  waustad: Someone with a rating over 2300 is a lot better than most of us. It was interesting looking at the games from Gibraltar, since many of them looked like they were from a weekend Swiss I might have played in, not from Linares or Wijk ann Zee.
Feb-18-08  jovack: 17. ... Q X b2 FOR THE LOSS
Feb-18-08  mindkontrolle: what a mistake! Qb6??
Feb-19-08  kevin86: Aside from a few spite checks, black cannot prevent a mate in two by white.

Alan J Norris-does not deserve the James Norris trophy for two reasons:

1 The trophy is given for the best defenseman-and his defense was shoddy at best.

2 The trophy is given for HOCKEY. lol
