Feb-06-09  WhiteRook48: isn't this technically English Opening?
Jul-10-10  cuppajoe: It started out as an English opening, but with 4.d4 it's transposed to the opening listed.

Interestingly, my computer's opening library calls the Two Knights variation of the Old Indian the Tartakower variation, presumably after this game or this one:

Tartakower vs R Grau, 1935

Jul-16-12  backrank: After 12. ... f5, the position rather reminds me of the Dutch, as well as Colle's attacking technique (Rf6-h6 and Qh4) is typical for the Dutch. Here, however, his sacrifices are rather speculative. Once more, Colle proves a forerunner of the great Tal :)

After 21. Ref1 (according to Rybka, 21. e4 would have won, but what human would have tried such king journeys via e3 in a real game?) the position is a forced draw, as the game continuation shows. From here on, any deviation by White would have lead to a quick loss.

Especially pretty are the echoing variations 27. Nc1?? Qxc1+ 28. Qe1 Qxc4+ 29. Kf2 Qf4# and (27. Qe1! Qf5+) 28. Nf4?? Qxf4+ 29. Qf2 Qxc4+ 30. Ke1 Qc1# [Reinfeld].

Who has claimed that drawn games are always boring?
