Dec-19-09  Shams: 22...Bg5 because I believe white was threatening 23.Qxa1, e.g. 22...Bxf3 23.Qxa1 Rxa1 24.Rd8 Rxd8 25.Rxd8 Qf1 26.Bxf1 Bxf1 27.gxf3 with the simplest of wins.
May-24-12  Libelt: That's the scheme of John Brunner's novel.
Nov-21-14  Ke2: typical of steinitz, the unbelievably cheeky bf8
May-14-16  RookFile: Yes, and typical of Chigorin too. He put a lot of wins up in the Evans Gambit against Steinitz.
Oct-10-19  SymphonicKnight: As Stockfish claims, Steinitz fatal mistakes came on moves 20 and especially 21. The two bishops may have been sufficient to battle Chigorin's extra pawn, and hold the draw.
