Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-04-17  Whitehat1963: What's the finish?
Jan-04-17  Gilmoy: 23..Rxe6 24.Bxd5 and Rc8 hangs on the pin. 24..Kf7 25.Qxf5+ wins a rook. (Black's K-side pawn structure is really bad against the Qf5 threat.) Black's best is probably to return the rook immediately, but all ways lead to problems.

24..cxd5 25.Rxc8+ Bf8 26.Qxf5 Rf6[] 27.Qxd5+ Kh8 28.Qc5, up three pawns:

24..cxd5 25.Rxc8+ Kh7 26.Qxf5+ Rg6[] 27.h4, up two pawns with a vexing pin and the faster mate threat:

27.Bc3 instead would hold everything, but it feels timid. Black has no WBR threat as long as Rc8/Bd2 can double on c1 (to interpose vs. Qa1), so White can just hang Bd2 and mate first: 27..Qxb2 28.h5 29.Qa1+ Bc1.

24..Rce8 <move one to defend the other> 25.Rxc6 Qxb2 26.Qc3, up B+P+1 more, as both Bd6 and Re6 hang.
