Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-15-06  Nikita Smirnov: Strange that in the middle of the 18 century that the Queens Gambit where played!
Apr-29-08  heuristic: This is game #3 of the semifinal match of the American Chess Congress.
Dec-26-09  birthtimes: Morphy could have won a pawn, and most likely the game, with 15...cxb4 16.axb4 dxc4 17.Bxc4 Qxd2+ 18.Kxd2 Bxb4+!
Dec-09-13  barryh1976: 30..Rb6 not sure what Morphy was thinking.
Jan-05-15  Ke2: what's the deal with rb6? was this just a blunder, morphy thinking he could play Rb2+ and missing Rc2, blocking, and the resulting K+P is a draw.
Dec-27-15  kereru: 30...Rb6 "Failing by an oversight to score a game which his extra Pawn should have ensured him." (The tournament book by Fiske).
Sep-06-22  paulmorphy1969: somewhere i read this:
This game was played up to the 55th move but only 31 moves were published. Unfortunately I am no longer able to find the source of this information. Does anyone have any information about it?
Sep-06-22  paulmorphy1969: I found the source
David Lawson in his book Paul Morphy The Pride and Sorrow of Chess on page 65 writes: `` This game was played up to the 55th move but only 31 moves were published. '' But he does not cite any sources.
