Mar-19-07  chessamateur: I find these City Games to be extremely interesting. Their usually exciting, even if their not sound.
Feb-25-18  zanzibar: Schiffers gives this game as being played in Oct 1898 in <Niva Suppl. (1899) p217>.

Likely the 1899 date comes from the publication date of the source(?).

Feb-25-18  zanzibar: Oh yeah, beware the old calendar system Russia used - Oct 1898 (old) != Oct 1898 (new).

The old system is 12 days behind in 1898:
