Aug-05-04  jeffnool: Anand simply puts his best against a very tough opponent...
Sep-14-06  positionalgenius: Take a look at this Anand gem. What a great game. And 53.Rc1!! is simply beautiful.
Apr-21-08  sheaf: very good technique by current world champion
Apr-21-08  Petrosianic: Of course he wasn't world champion when he played it... (And if you're trying to start an argument about whether he is now, there are plenty of other threads for that).

plang: 13..Qc7 had been played in Acs-Lutz Budapest 2003 and White had gone on to win; 13..Be7 was new. 21..Qb7? was an error that was punished tactically; Anand recommended 21..Rxb4!? 22 cxb..a5 23 b5..Qxb5 24 Rxd6..Bc7 25 Rd2..a4 with compensation for the exchange. Svidler may have been counting on playing 22..Be7 but then realized that White could respond 23 Rxa6..Bxb4 24 Ra7. 34..Rf8 35 Rd1..Rxf3 36 Rd8+..Rf8 (36..Kf7 37 g6+! wins) 37 Rxf8+..Kxf8 38 Qc5+ would have been winning for White. 38..Kg6 would have been a tougher defense.
