Kasparov, Fischer, etc should be considered as SUPER-GM. Even though this is not an official title, it is commonly accepted by all who has the slightest knowledge in chess. 2) At the time of this game, Magnus has just started his professional career. I mean, if i was to witness the first time you were on a bike and i laugh my head off when you fall off and graze your knee, that won't be very kind or fair. 3) Magnus is now far stronger with a rating above 2600. He is already better than most chess players in the world (including you and me) so if he should become a soccer player then what should us common patzers be? 4) His recent increase of rating points suggest that 2600s is not his peak - and even if he never reaches 2700s, remember Point 3) - ie respect him as a chessplayer whose strength you and i can never even get close to. Probably the only point that i may agree with you is that <"Magnus is VERY overrated"> but imho <Magnus is not overated>. |

Finally, If the chess are going to be in the hands of the likes of carlsen, I might consider checkers as it would yield a much more complex game, then.> Carlsen improved his world ranking to 6th place on FIDE's July 2008 list behind Viswanathan Anand, Vladimir Kramnik, Veselin Topalov, Vassily Ivanchuk and Alexander Morozevich with a rating of 2775...
