Mar-23-04  Egghead: Who wrote these annotations? 12. ... Bxe2 is indeed a mistake, as 13.Qxd4 wins a piece (13. ... Qxd4 Ne6+). But 12. ... e5 would have held.
Oct-10-04  Spassky69: Shouldn't this opening be named Bloodgood's Openings? I mean not only does it sound cool, but he used it the most and won although it was against inmates most of the time.
Oct-10-04  jesterco12: I've always felt that the Grob seems like a try for an opening trap. It's like playing e4 Bc4 Qf3 to try to do the scholars mate or something. It just seems like a cheap opening.
Apr-15-05  Bacchus: I would argue that the Grob - "Bloodgood opening" is a tactical move and if it succeeds it is certainliy not cheap, but rather inventive.
Jul-03-06  beatles fan: pretty weak annotations, but was a real slaughtering.
Jul-18-07  Guguni: What if the black play 12...N:e2 instead of taking with the bishop?

dorsnikov: If you go back to the Chess Opening Explorer screen percentage bars, you will notice that white wins most games by a wide margin. therefore The Grob can really be an effective opening. i've even had victories with the Grob (Borg Defense) reversed! Michael Basman and Gerard Welling use it all the time.
Dec-07-10  Xeroxx: Wow this Bloodgood is like better than Morphy man!!!
Oct-31-17  Whitehat1963: Oops!!
