In reality i think when you've lost a bishop off the board it's game over anyway, unless you have some forcing moves. But it is disappointing to see white squander his first mover advantage and play a serf when he should be a lord.

Jul-20-10		jbtigerwolf: This is absolutely beautiful and it was just genius how he saw it coming after the O-O-O and maybe just before. The Bishop move is aesthetic and only a sealing Knight or Bishop move in the middle looks better. It was just killer chess. The more I examine the Philidor, the more impressed I am. That little battle of the pawn-centre in Black's forecourt at the start of the game is just so important.

Don't blame yourself, <Phony Benoni>; my thinking was just too tunnel visioned to see that you were making a pun, which is so very obvious now that you've pointed it out. Sometimes I just focus too narrowly: I remember a few months ago when Boris Becker played a losing game of chess against a recognized master <cg> tagged it as GOTD with "Tennis, Anyone?" In my post I wondered what the "tennis" connection was, not thinking at all about Becker's real profession. Boy, did that make me feel like a yo-yo!
