  plang: 6..h5 used to be popular but is rarely played nowadays. This seems to be more about fashion; Shirov does not gain an advantage here. 12 Rfb1 is an unusual idea, initiating a pawn storm on the queenside where Topalov has doubled pawns. Seirawan felt that 37 Rgh2 preventing 37..g5 would have been Shirovs best strategy. 51 Nd6+ is an interesting attempt to confuse the issue leading to an ending with a rook against four pawns. At this point, however, Shirov is already objectively lost.
