Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-29-07  Ulhumbrus: An instructive example of how to handle the hanging pawns, one can learn a thing or two from this game. According to a book on the younger Soviet players ( the book was written a few decades ago) with 21..Ng5 Black is threatening 22..Nh3+ 23 Kh1 d4 24 exd4 f4 and if memory serves, the annotator says "what does White do?" giving then some variations which favour Black. This suggests that the move 21...Ng5 prepares the check ...Nh3+ which supports the advance ..f4. The same annotator suggests, instead of 17 Ne1, the pawn sacrifice 17 b4! cb 18 Qa4 "after which Black would have to go into defensive mode"
Aug-22-08  Woody Wood Pusher: If 24 hxg5, Qh1+ 25. Kf2, dxe3+ 26. Qxe3, Qh2+! 27. Kxf3, Rxe3+ 28. Kxe3, Qxg3+ 29.Kd2, Qxf4+ (eval -3.3 Q+2P vs R+B)
