Jonathan Sarfati: Another fine use of the bishop pair by the unfairly stereotyped knight-lover Chigorin. And many times in this game, his fine tactical alertness made his great opponent look weak.
Nov-10-15  PJs Studio: There is a deep modern feel to Chigorin's brilliant kingside attack. His moves just aren't that easy to find! Sad to say I'm just seeing it for the first time. Don't forget this game took place in 1893(!)

After White played 32.Qd2-c1 Tarrasch wrote.

"White misses a brilliant opportunity to resign."

Tarrasch would probably have resigned here...

....if Black had played 39...Qxf4 which he stated was a better move.

----

I cannot quite agree with Jonathan that Black's two Bishop won this.

Yes at one time Black had the two Bishops and won but it was the lone Black Knight that cause Tarrasch all the headaches.

3 times in it's 13 moves the Knight hung itself to a capture. (the Bishop's between them made 3 moves - one was swapping itself for a Knight.)

Black has just played 29...Nx(p)b4

Nov-10-15  ndg2: Many tempi losses by Tarrasch in the early middle game. Did not adhere to his own priciples here and was deservedly punished.

  NM JRousselle: What a smash!

This has to rate as one of the worst defeats of Dr Tarrasch.
