Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-20-08  Knight13: 16. Rxe6!! and after Bd7 all Blacks' pawns are weaklings about to get picked off by bullies.
Dec-28-14  Knight13: 5... h5?!: The game has barely started and Black was already deconstructing his king's potential safe haven to launch a premature attack. Following it up with 8... d5? was no good for His Highness either; 8... d6 is more advisable.

14... g4, with the threat of ... Qh4, seems superior, and makes more sense with Black's earlier ... h5?!.

Jun-26-16  sneaky pete: After 14... g4 15.f5 Bxf5 16.Re8+ .. winning the Queen, that's why Bird tried 14... b5 15.Bxb5 Qa5. But 13... g4 14.f5 Bxf5 15.Re8+ Qxe8 16.Bxe8 Rxe8

doesn't look too bad.

5... h5! is standard in the Bird Defence, with ... d5 and ... Kf8! next (if white is foolish enough to play exd5 cxd5 Bb5+ .. or Re1+ ..).

In this game 11... g5 was too optimistic. He should have played 11... g6 as recommended by Schallopp in the tournamnet book.
