Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-21-04  Egghead: Anderssen must give up his queen, as 43. ... Kh8 invites 49.Qc8+ and mate next move.
Feb-22-04  drukenknight: Oh, oh, another one in our continueing series of messes up right before hte time control.

ON Eggie's comments, yes that's how it ends OR it might have been real interesting to fight it out R vs Q... Oh R + passed pawn vs Q. Yeah, that's not a gimme either unless there is soemthing about the RP that is particularly bad. Although I'm sure he was quite sick of having to defend against Steinitz in that sort of open position. but it didnt have to be.

Mar-11-06  sneaky pete: 43... Qg7 44.Rxg7+ Kxg7 45.Qg5+ K moves 46.Qxe3 .. is K + passed pawn vs Q. Not really promising.
Jan-31-12  Knight13: 34...Rf7 will hold the position together, so if 35. Reh1, then 35...Qxe4+.
Jun-18-15  TheFocus: <Knight13> < 34...Rf7 will hold the position together, so if 35. Reh1, then 35...Qxe4+.>

Chigorin suggests that after 34...Rf7, White play 35.Kf3 (in order to free up the Rook at e1), but Black with 35...Qe5 forces the exchange of Queens.

Apr-23-18  Saniyat24: Race to the finish line...!
